When will Independent Living Apartments open?
Construction for the Independent Living Apartments will begin in Winter 2006. The project should be finished by Spring 2007.

How much will it cost to rent an apartment?
The cost will vary depending on the size and specific location of the apartment, but will be in line with comparable senior apartments in Duluth.

Who owns Lakeshore?
Lakeshore is owned by the Ecumen, which is a nonprofit organization. Ecumen's mission is to build communities of compassion and support to enrich the lives of older adults and others it serves.

How much does the project cost and who is going to pay for it?
The project will cost approximately $35 million and will be paid for with a variety of funding sources. Sources include bonds, interest earnings, and equity from Ecumen. Also, a capital campaign is underway to raise $2.4 million from people who want to help ensure Lakeshore’s future as a community asset.
