Parish Nursing

Parish Nursing is alive and growing the Northland! There are 43 congregations that have a Parish Nurse on staff. Parish Nursing is interdenominational and Christ-centered, and designed to fit congregational settings. Parish Nurses are Registered Nurses who have taken a special Preparatory Course and who function in a variety of roles. They can act as advocates and liaisons between people and their physicians or act as health educators, offering classes on everything from weight control to parenting. Parish Nurses do not do "hands on" nursing care, but are available to listen, pray and assess congregates’ needs.

The Arrowhead Parish Nurse Peer Group covers an area from International Falls to Moose Lake and Duluth to the Iron Range. The group coordinator is Pam Franklin who is located in the Lakehouse on the Lakeshore campus. She is available to make presentations to churches on Parish Nursing or mail information requested.

For more information on becoming a Parish Nurse or for general information, please call Pam at
(218) 625-8332, Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays,
or email her at PamFranklin@ecumen.org.

For more information on Parish Nursing in general, contact The International Parish Nurse Resource Center at www.parishnurses.org, or educational opportunities at Concordia College in Moorhead at www.cord.edu/dept/parishnursing.
