About Our Future Campus

Lakeshore has a rich history of caring for seniors, and now the campus is changing to ensure a rich future. Not willing to live in a highly-regulated nursing home environment, seniors want the ability to tailor the level of services based on their needs as they age.

That is why Lakeshore is changing its campus to reflect the changing wishes of seniors. After several years of planning, the Lakeshore Board of Directors approved the following design. Not only does the design provide excellent living options for seniors, it also offers incredible views of Lake Superior.

1 Independent Living Building
(Opening in 2007)
This building will provide 100 upscale independent living apartments, including 32 one-bedroom apartments and 68 two-bedroom apartments, all with a view of the lake. It is designed for people who are independent and want the benefits of apartment living. Parking will be available in an underground garage. Home care services will be available, when needed.

2 Assisted Living Apartments
(Opened in Fall 2006)
This building includes 60 assisted living apartments. Twenty are dedicated to Memory Care residents. Of the other 40 apartments, 34 are one-bedroom and six have two bedrooms. The assisted living building is designed for those who need close supervision but are still able to provide some care for themselves. Both assisted and independent living apartments have complete kitchens and bathrooms.

3 Short-Stay and Rehabilitation Center
The building offers 60 private rooms designed for people who need short-term nursing care to recover from an accident, surgery or illness. Each room has a private bathroom and shower.

4 Cascade Plaza
This building serves as the main entrance for the campus. It includes a chapel, therapy services, dining room for independent and assisted living residents, and a community room. This room is also available for outside groups to meet. The goal is to make this a popular meeting place for Lakeside and Lester Park residents and their organizations.
